Ultimate is a sport played with a 175 gram flying disc. The objective of the game is to score points by passing the disc to a player in the opposing end zone, similar to an end zone in American football or rugby. Players may not run with the disc, and may only move one foot while holding the disc (pivoting). I've put a highlight reel and a game below just to give a flavour of the sport. It is a very athletic sport, but we're quite a relaxed club so don't worry if you aren't a born sprinter.
For those of you that have played a little more - LSE are one of the top uni teams in the UK. We are the best in London and have been contenders in Div 1 Nationals every year bar the year of our inception. We are coming into a strong year this year so are really hoping for a few strong internationals to strengthen our core team.
And for everyone - the social side. We are definitely one of the better societies social-side wise. There is a strong community element in ultimate frisbee, not just inside our uni so you'll see players from way back in LSE's history show up to play with us now and again. When it comes to AU nights we are always out there representing with our penchant for american drinking games (although the club is at the moment the most british its ever been). I think the reason that we have a better social aspect than many is that we are smaller than many of the other societies and there isnt so much aggression in our squad. I've had a fair few converts from netball come over because they found their teams so bitchy, and its often said you can take the nicest guys but put them together in the fc and all of a sudden they're a plague. We work hard and we play pretty hard but its never forced; we're just there to have fun.
We also play a competition in Italy called paganello - five days of sun sand and frisbee with massive parties every night.
