** One-state reality or two-state utopia? A debate on the future of Palestine **

The LSESU Grimshaw International Relations Club and the LSESU Politics & Forum Society are proud to announce our first event of the new academic year: a panel discussion on the future of Palestine. Recently, the debate on the one state and two state solutions seems to be changing - some are tired with the constant failure of negotiations around Gaza and the West Bank, as borders and the return of refugees remain seemingly intractable problems. They argue that rather than aiming for a two state utopia, we must accept the one state reality in order to make real change. But is this a false dichotomy? Some activists have supported a one state solution for decades, while others still see the two state solution as the only true and lasting end to the conflict. This debate aims to unite both Israeli and Palestinian perspectives on this important and timely issue. Motion: “This House believes we should accept a one-state reality.”
