Major artist and cultural phenomenon Ai Weiwei takes over the main galleries of RA with brave, provocative and visionary works.

The display chronicles his work since 1993 – the year Ai returned to China after 12 years living in New York. It was a defining moment in his career, when Ai's work began to reflect on both his Chinese cultural heritage, as well as his exposure to the Western art world.

With typical boldness, the chosen works explore a multitude of challenging themes, drawing on his own experience to comment on creative freedom, censorship and human rights, as well as examining contemporary Chinese art and society.

Come and join us for this beautifully installed exhibition, through the powerful art works, where Ai Weiwei embrace the immensity of historic spaces.
