On #Feb17, the LSESU Middle East Society is hosting a panel discussion to mark the five year anniversary of the Libyan revolution and discuss the ongoing political crisis in the country. Our speakers are: 1. Alaa Murabit - Libyan women's rights activist, founder and director of 'The Voice of Libyan Women', and adviser to UN Women and UN Security Council Resolution 1325, on Twitter @almmura 2. Mary Fitzgerald - journalist and analyst focusing on Libya whose work has appeared in The Economist, Washington Post, Guardian, New Yorker, FT and Foreign Policy, on Twitter @MaryFitzger 3. Anas El-Gomati - Libyan analyst, founder and director of the country's first think tank, the Sadeq Institute, and former Visiting Fellow at the Carnegie Middle East Centre, on Twitter @AGomati 4. Mohamed Al-Hamali - Libyan economics/politics and law graduate, on Twitter @MohamedAlHamali The talk will cover a range of topics, including the current political crisis, human rights, prospects for peace and democracy, and the role of regional and international actors. It will then be followed by a Q&A with the audience. The event is free and open to the entire public, however attendees will need to get a ticket on this page.
