RESPONSIBILITIES :
• Represent female students within the Union to ensure equality and facilitate empowerment.
• Facilitate a consciousness-raising Women's Week to highlight important issues and campaigns and, to encourage greater student involvement, regardless of gender.
• Running campaigns on issues that are important to female students, building links of solidarity across Unions and with wider organisations.
• Facilitate the bi-weekly Women's Forum and enable open discussion of shared experiences and concerns, both on campus and beyond.


MY PRIORITIES FOR THE YEAR :
• Increase participation by getting more women involved at every level of the union through wider campaigns that will illustrate the pervase effects of gender inequality through class, ethinicity, nationality, religion...
• Respond to national and international issues that will effect our diverse female student body through Campaigns of active solidarity and education.
• Build on the women's pages on the SU website to highlight the services the Students Union can offer female students.

 

 

• Ensure all cases of sexism are taken seriously by all in the Union and University, lobbying for a more open and accessible method of reporting any incident of sexism and discrimination to prevent the normalising and trivialising of damaging behavior.
• Strengthen bonds with Halls Welfare Officers to ensure the provision of resources - facilitating Self-Defence Workshops and awareness of SU services and events to increase participation.
• Increase the distribution among female students of the Women's handbook and make it more relevant to immediate needs and concerns, focusing on services and upcoming campaigns.
• Improve awareness of how to stay safe in London - implementing Self-Defence workshops to empower Women with the understanding of the reality of violence against women and that self-defence as a process within our struggle towards gender equality.
• Create links with the careers centre, to increase awareness of the disciminations female students often face upon graduation in different sectors of employment.  Lobbying for an open resource that will allow for students to provide feedback and facilitate an open dialogue around the persistant experiences of inequality in the workplace.

• Come and visit me in one of my weekly drop-in sessions with any queries, worries or ideas concerning issues specific to women.
• You can raise any concerns with me at our bi-weekly Women's forums - a confidential meeting that is open to all  to encourage open discussion to both raise common issues and build on Union solidarity.
