Finance

Being a student in London is an amazing experience, but unfortunately there is a downside - money. As all students now have to pay fees, and as our much-beloved student grant has disappeared, most students have had to come to terms with living in debt, and will at some point probably have some financial problems of one sort or another.

But it's not all doom and gloom, once you learn the best value places to spend your money London really isn't as expensive as it might at first appear.

It might sound a bit boring but a bit of careful budgeting can work wonders for your finances. It isn't possible to over-emphasise the importance of working out what your income will be over the year, and prioritising what it should be spent on. Everyone is different and a budget for one person might not be suitable for someone else so think it through carefully.

If the worst does come to the worst, there are sources of financial assistance available for students, both from the LSE and the Union. But don't wait until you're broke before looking for help. If you know you will be in difficulties in the future, make sure you ask for advice right away.

Here are some tips that will help you to cope with your finances a little better.
