LSE Health Centre

The Health Centre is situated in St. Philips Building, and offers a comprehensive service for students. You will be required to register before your first consultation, so have some documentation with you.

It is open Monday to Friday and from 9.00am to 5.00pm. This is the time that you can ring up and book an appointment (020 7955 7016) with a doctor.

There is an urgent clinic every day that is suitable for medically urgent problems, requiring immediate attention. These are operated on a first-come, first-serve basis. There are two sessions, from 11.00am to 11.30am and from 3.00pm to 3.30pm.

Out of hours medical cover is provided by a co-operative of local doctors. They cover all the Halls of Residence and the borough of Camden and Islington. If you urgently need a doctor out of hours, telephone the Health Centre. If you live outside this range, the LSE Health Centre will not cover you, so you will need to register with a doctor close to where you live.

There is a Contraception Clinic daily, at various times: Mon-Thur 1.30-2.30 and Fri 11-11.45 (term time only) for any sort of contraception, including condoms. It is completely confidential and you do not need an appointment. You can get Emergency contraception from all of the doctors in the open clinics.

The Osteopath, Tim Hanwell, holds a clinic on Thursday. A massage therapy clinic is available on Tuesday and Friday afternoons, though there are charges for both these services and you will need to make an appointment.

You can also make appointments for the Dental Service. Although there is no charge for under 19 year olds, everyone else is charged the standard NHS fees. Tel: 0207 955 7444

The Health Centre, like the Advice Centre, has a Counselling service staffed by four professional Counsellors. A first appointment can be arranged within one week and urgent cases can be seen each day between 4.00pm and 5.00pm.
