The LSE has a Code of Practice on Teaching and Learning
for students which you can find in theLSE Undergraduate Handbook
(contained within theLSE Calendar
).
This Code sets out the required minimum standards with regard to teaching and tutorial roles.
If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of the School's teaching, tutorial or supervisory provision, or with related administrative matters you should refer to the Procedure for the Submission of Grievances by Students on Academic Matters. This can be found within the LSE Undergraduate/Postgraduate Handbooks (contained within the LSE Calendar
).
There are separate procedures contained in the LSE Calendar
which set out your rights of appeal against examination decisions and where the School makes an allegation of misconduct.
The grounds for appealing against examination decisions are very limited. You will need to show that there has been a procedural defect in the way the exam was conducted or in the way your paper was marked. Examples of this include miscalculation of marks or failure to consider medical evidence.
For advice and representation on any of the above procedures you should contact the Students' Union Welfare & Education Sabbatical
(Tel.020 7955 6709) or speak to one of the advisers in the [Advice Centre|/main/support/advicecentre] .
A contract exists between you and the School. Under the terms of this contract both parties have certain obligation. If you feel that the School is not performing their obligations, and you have exhausted the available internal procedures there are a number of legal remedies that may be available to you, including bringing an action for breach of contract or negligence. If you need advice on these and other legal remedies the Advice Centre can put you in contact with a solicitor. You can also call the National Union of Students
(Tel.020 7272 8900) or contact the Welfare & Education Sabbatical
.
