Legal and Welfare Advice

 

Our professional advisers can help with a range of issues including housing, immigration, visa extensions, employment problems, welfare benefits, grants, fee status and disability rights. For academic enquiries please go to the Student Service Centre. 

 

We also offer a series of information leaflets in the Advice and Counselling Centre’s reception area.

 

  • Immigration- We provide advice on all student related immigration queries. If you wish to see us regarding information about student visa extensions, in the first instance, please go to the school Visa Office website run by the Student Service Centre. Link If your case is a complex immigration matter, the Visa Office will refer you back to us. We also advise on Visa corrections, fee status, IGS scheme and basic help, information on work visas and HSMP visas.

 

  • Housing- We provide information, advice and advocacy on all housing related issues. This includes deposits issues, landlord and tenant disputes, dealing with estate or letting agencies, problems with harassment within housing, illegal eviction, domestic violence issues, council tax, disrepair issues and joint tenancies. We also provide tenancy contract reading but would request you to provide us with 24 hours notice if you wish to use this service.
