Butlers Wharf is one of the cheapest hall alternatives, with one of the most exclusive - though not central - locations. The hall is made up of about thirty large, self-contained flats, which makes it ideal for postgraduate and more mature students.
The area around the hall has its own attractions. For one, you can admire the wonderfully bijoux apartments above Conran's Pont de la Tour restaurant. There are a number of small, posh stores in the neighbourhood, while the down-to earth local pubs are great to explore. Also not far are some inexpensive takeaways for those lacking motivation to cook.
