These halls are run by the University of London and have no direct contact with the LSE itself. Roughly 25% of first year undergraduates are residents at these halls, which are shared by King's, UCL and other colleges of the University of London. Halls vary in their make-up of students, with some being predominantly postgraduate, and others mainly undergraduate.
The variety of people makes for a very mixed and interesting social scene. The only disadvantage is that you may be limited in the number of LSE students that you can meet.
Most intercollegiate halls are catered, though the standard of food varies between the individual establishments. The inclusion of food in the hall rents means that costs look, at first glance, fairly high compared with the LSE halls. However, there are a number of perks associated with living in intercollegiate accommodation.
These range from access to squash and tennis courts to quiet study rooms, and most of the halls are situated in the Russell Square area of London, providing easy access to the LSE, either on foot or by bus, as well as placing you close to all the facilities that ULU has to offer.
