Renting Private Accomodation

At some point during their degree, most students find themselves living in private accommodation around London. This can be a great experience, as you have a level of freedom that is never available in halls. But some students have problems with private accommodation, and this guide is designed to help you through some of the most common ones, from house-hunting and agencies to contracts and deposits.

This page intended as a general guide to some of your rights when renting accommodation from a private landlord. In general the law governing this area is complex and you should always seek advice if you are unsure about your rights. The [Students' Union Advice and Counselling Centre|/main/support/advicecentre] can provide housing advice on a wide range of issues to do with renting in the private sector.
