About us

What is the Students' Union? What does it do? How can it help you? Why should you care?

The LSE Students' Union exists solely for LSE students and through our bars, outlets, societies, Athletics Union, Media Group, Advice Centre, campaigns and activities of our Officers, we aim to represent, promote, support and protect the interests of LSE students. We cover just about every area of student life beyond actual studying. We do not make profits and are run by students, for students.

Every student at LSE is automatically a member of the Students' Union (SU) and everyone has the right to get involved in the Union through elections for student reprsentatives, participate at the unique weekly Union General Meeting (UGM), work part-time for the Union, enjoy Union entertainments, join one of the 170 or so societies, produce and edit through the Media Group, play sports for our teams or just make use of the Union's services.
