The Future of the European Union and the Sovereign Nation State - 12 December 2007 (Wednesday), 6.30-8.00 pm, Room: G108
The LSE European Society has invited H.E. Jean-Michel VERANNEMAN de WATERVLIET, Belgian Ambassador in London, to give a conference about “The future of the European Union and the Sovereign Nation State”.
The presentation will be followed by a discussion with the Ambassador chaired by Professor Michael Bruter. This will be the opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the current political situation in Belgium, the role of Belgium in the EU or any other related questions!
After the lecture, we will be organising informal drinks in the presence of the Ambassador.

Globalisation and Europe - Getting the Message Right - 9 January 2008 (Wednesday), 6.30-8.00pm
European Union officials over in Brussels have been talking a lot recently about globalisation. In fact, it has grown so important on the political agenda, that it is the principal theme of the work of the European Commission for the next year in 2008.
Come along on 9 January to ask your burning questions about the European Commission’s work and how they set and communicate their political priorities with Mr Christian Krappitz from the UK Representation Office for the European Commission.
