To register your society -

Societies that are required to hold elections during October:

1.            Organise a meeting at which the society’s officers are elected and the society’s constitution is formulated and ratified. Most societies will choose to adopt the Union’s Standard Societies Constitution (a copy of which you should have received in your societies registration pack but it is also on available on the website). Information regarding booking a room for the election meeting and the election and duties of society officers can be found in the Societies Handbook and on the website.

2.            Membership lists and accompanying membership fees should be handed in to Alice Kington no later than two working days before the date of the election of the society committee. Membership should be closed at this point until after the elections have been held.  Please ensure that you have photocopied your membership list before you submit it.

3.            Once elections have been held the new Chairperson must complete an on line registration form.  The form can be found at http://webdb.lse.ac.uk/susoc.  You need to enter your LSE username and password then click on the registration link and enter the username Alice and the password astonvilla.  The form requires information about the society’s aims, elections and contact details for the Chairperson, Treasurer and Secretary.  The names, email addresses and positions of any other officers on the society committee should be emailed to Alice Kington.

4.            The Chair should allow at least 24 hours for the registration form to be processed before going to see Alice Kington to hand in the signed room booking agreement form (which allows the signatories - who must all be elected officers - to book rooms in the School via LSE for You).

5.            Unless the Union's standard society constitution is to be adopted the Chair must also submit the society’s constitution or any amendments to the standard constitution at this stage.

6.            To complete the registration process the newly elected Treasurer must see Alice Kington to sign a file card (used for verifying their authorisation of society expenses claims).

The deadline for registration of these societies is before 4pm on Monday 22nd October.

Societies that hold elections at another time of year:

1.      Hand your membership lists and accompanying membership fees in to Alice Kington as soon as possible after Freshers Fair but no later than 4pm Monday 8th October.

  1. The current Chairperson must complete an on line registration form.
  2. The Chair should allow at least 24 hours for the registration form to be processed before going to see Alice Kington to hand in the signed room booking agreement form (which allows the signatories - who must all be elected officers - to book rooms in the School via LSE for You).
  3. Unless the Union's standard society constitution is to be adopted the Chair must also submit the society’s constitution or any amendments to the standard constitution at this stage.
  4. To complete the registration process the Treasurer must see Alice Kington to sign a file card (used for verifying their authorisation of society expenses claims).

The deadline for registration of these societies is before 4pm on Monday 15th  October but obviously the sooner you register the sooner you will be able to book rooms for future events.
