Volunteering

The LSE Volunteer Centre is a joint venture between the School and the Students' Union. It aims to encourage everyone at LSE to get involved in volunteering in the local community and to have fun doing so!Volunteering is a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, have fun and discover London. You will also gain valuable skills and experience for your CV, whilst making a real difference to people's lives. Volunteering can also help you to find your dream job. Employers want to see evidence of how you cope in situations that may arise in your working ;ife. As a result of his volunteering, one LSE student volunteer has been offered a summer internship at the charity where he volunteers. Big companies are also getting involved in the community through employee-volunteering schemes. In fact, 22 million adults take part in formal volunteering each year and volunteering is estimated to generate about £40 billion a year for the UK economy! You can volunteer regularly or simply get involved in one-off projects when you have the time. There is a wide range of things that you can do, from helping witnesses in court, visiting the elderly and those in hospital, to tutoring at after-school clubs and
working with refugees.

Whatever it is that you would like to do, the Volunteer Centre is bound to have a project for you! And if we don't, we will try and find you one or even encourage you to set up your own project. The Volunteer Centre is based in the Careers Service, 6th Floor, Tower 3.

If you would like to get involved check www.lse.ac.uk/collections/volunteerCentre, then contact 020 7955 6519 or email volunteer@lse.ac.uk.
