Amnesty International

Join LSESU Amnesty International!

We are the biggest human right society on campus working closely with Amnesty International UK. While we all share love for human rights, we have found a number of ways to advocate for them, including campaigning and fundraising as well as running an annual human rights journal. This means that you can be sure to find something for you at Amnesty!

Over the past year we have engaged with issues of both local and global importance, including participating in the Consent Now campaign on the LSE campus and taking a stand on global problems, such as the refugee crisis. We are passionate for human rights and cherish diversity and inclusion, and we will do our best to create space for each member of our society to be able to advocate for human rights-related issues they feel most passionate about.

How to get involved with LSESU Amnesty International? Take a look at the society's three divisions!

1. Campaigns
This division of our society campaigns against human rights abuses, raising awareness of them both on campus and across London. Working closely with Amnesty International UK, other universities’ Amnesty student initiatives, and other LSE societies on campus, we are excited to get creative and organise campaigns on issues we are passionate about. Join us in driving the human rights discourse on campus and organising panels, installations, social media campaigns and more!

2. Fundraising
This division fundraises for Amnesty International and other charities representing the causes we are passionate about. Join us to raise money with events such as a Valentine’s Day photo shoot, the Diplomacy Ball, or London-wide events such as Jamnesty, a KCL x UCL x Queen Mary x Goldsmiths x LSE cooperation, to raise money for Amnesty.

3. The Journal
LSESU Amnesty International publishes an annual human rights journal, providing an editorial outlet for the LSE community to challenge, share, and grow their perspectives on contemporary human rights issues. Join us by writing, editing or designing for our Journal.

Join one of our three subcommittees to take a stand of human rights while making wonderful lasting friendships!

Thank you for your interest and we look forward to welcome you as part of our Amnesty family!

Loads of love,
Amnesty committee
