About us

Join RAG if you want to make change through a diverse mix of events, campaigns and activities, in support of a variety of causes. We are a platform for change- making, whether small or big, through fundraising, the spreading of awareness, and the investigation of socially conscious career paths.

Together, we fundraise around £70,000 - £80,000 each year! This includes external challenges, which alone generated £38,000 last year!

THEMES OF THE YEAR

This year we are interested in innovation, social enterprise, activism and sustainability. We want to unite the career oriented side of LSE with the ideals we stand for, exploring careers where you can make a direct difference to social issues.

We also focus on the themes of our 3 annual charities, which are voted in by the student body. Last year these were:

  • LOCAL CHARITY: The Felix Project (food waste and poverty)
  • NATIONAL CHARITY: Refugee Action (helping refugees)
  • INTERNATIONAL CHARITY: MSF - Doctors Without Borders (international healthcare)

FUNDRAISING ARM OF THE STUDENTS UNION

As the fundraising arm of the Student's Union, we offer assistance with all fundraising by students or societies on campus. This means that we are a gateway to most of the big societies at LSE.

We can provide you with planning, as well as logistical and marketing support, so please message us with any wonderful fundraising ideas you have or any great charities you think we should be supporting.

Membership

If you buy a RAG membership (£1.50), you will be the first to hear about our new events and opportunities in a tailored newsletter. You’ll also get priority access to socials and events, and even get discounts at some of our ticketed events.

You will receive one-to-one support from our committee. Your membership fee goes towards the running of the society, and is greatly appreciated as a facilitator of change. As a member, you will meet like-minded students who want to positively impact our world.

THE 2020/2021 RAG CALENDAR!

  • The RAG Band

Usually we organise the LSE only freshers’ week clubbing experience. This year, due to Covid-19, we are planning some alternatives. We are working with most hall committees to deliver a range of online and small, in person events! Expect to see us during freshers week in stalls at LSE (if this will be allowed), in halls and online.
  • RAG Explains
    (Ongoing)
A series of explanatory talks (TED style) on important, international issues of concern.
  • Campaigns and Online Fundraisers

    - Charity Auction with Amnesty International in August
    And many more!
  • RAG Week

During RAG week we will host a series of events in collaboration with other societies. Last year these included: the 24-hour gameathon, talks, the rowathon, a charity netball match and a vintage clothes sale.
  • RAG Conference 2020
    (Lent Term)
Here we will be discussing charity and activism from a philosophical, historical, sociological and international perspective!
  • Fashion Society x RAG LSE Fashion Show
    (Lent Term)
This year, for the very first time, we will be co-hosting the LSE fashion show!
