Clubs

Introduction

The Hockey Club is one of the biggest mixed-gender clubs in the AU, with 3 men’s teams and 2 women’s teams, along with a mixed team.  All teams train on Tuesdays and have matches on Wednesdays, along with mixed matches on Sunday. We take all abilities, whether you have a lot of hockey experience and are used to competing at a high level, or have never picked up a hockey stick before! We train at the world-class, Olympic pitches at Lee Valley and have access to top international coaches.

Last year was very successful for the club, as the men's 1st team won the BUCS University Hockey tournament at Lee Valley, leading on to their BUCS table-topping season in which they only lost one game. The men's 2nd team also topped their BUCS league, this time unbeaten, whilst also reaching the final of their respective cup competition.  In addition, our mixed team only missed out on topping their respective premier division by two points. The club has international success too. Every year the hockey club goes on an international tour, last year two years has seen the club travel to Barcelona and Portugal!

The club has as much fun off the pitch too, enjoying a range of exciting mixed socials every Wednesday, such as Pub Golf and bowling.  We pride ourselves on our emphasis on inclusivity and diversity in the club. These are core values to us in order to celebrate and represent the diverse community that we are honoured to be part of at LSE. We focus on creating a welcoming and safe club for all, to create an atmosphere in which everyone can thrive making the hockey club a central part of our members’ university experience.
