What Does It Mean To Be 'GSD'?

At the start of every term we give students the chance to attend free taster sessions.

Give It A Go

Give It A Go is all about exploring LSESU’s amazing, student-led sports clubs, societies and the media group societies. At the start of every term we give students (non-members) the chance to attend free taster sessions with some of our best clubs and societies to see what they’re really like without having to pay membership to join.

These different activities will fall under 5 different themes: Get Active, Learn A Skill, Relax and Socialise, Be Creative, and Share Your Culture, so you will get a flavour of what to expect from the Give It A Go session before you go!

What Does It Mean To Be 'GSD'?

Tuesday 04 October 2016

3pm - 4:45pm

SAW Venue - Basement of the Students’ Union building

The roundtable discussion is designed to give participants an opportunity to comfortably discuss what being part of the GSD community means to them. The event is designed for individuals internal to the community as well as those who self-identify with hegemonic gender and sexual identity categories.

The event will be a round table event wherein one individual (either the Alliance President or our Community & Welfare Officer) will be chairing the meeting. Said individual will, however, be functioning as a facilitator, not as someone leading or traditionally chairing the session.

All members of the student body are welcome to attend, and the event itself will split it into two halves. Firstly, the people who the topic of the session relates to can discuss their experiences etc, which will then be followed by people (who perhaps aren't whom the topic necessarily pertains to) asking questions or making statements etc. This will create the discursive ground for the main discussion. Obviously rude or discriminatory comments will not be condoned, and any individual expressing such opinions will be asked to leave. If individuals are finding the topic of discussion too triggering or anxiety-inducing, then they will be allowed to leave the event at anytime. Members of the Executive Committee will also be made available at the end of the session for private discussions with all attendees.

We are also hoping to provide hot beverages, water, juice, and baked goods as an accoutrement to the discussion in order create a more intimate and comfortable atmosphere for the event.

Places are limited! To reserve your place and guarantee entry (as well as receiving updates about any room changes) just request a free ticket.
