The Future of Pakistan Conference, our flagship event for the academic year, is meant to fulfil the objective of connecting students, academics and policy-makers. This results in dynamic, bipartisan and creative discourse about Pakistan and the large community of overseas Pakistanis, bringing out fresh analyses and points of view.
The Future of Pakistan Conference is being organised this year with the aim of making it bigger and better than last year. The purpose is two-pronged:
-
To portray Pakistan’s strong and rising development agenda to the International Community across the World
-
Provide a platform to prominent politicians, overseas academics and researchers to explore tangible solutions to problems related to the country and its large body of expats such as last year, when the conference reports were sent to the Ministry of Planning and Development to assist in policymaking.
The Future of Pakistan Conference 2018 will have three panels:
1. The Way Forward: The Civilian-Military Nexus
Speakers: Hina Rabbani Khar, General Naeem Lodhi and Talat Hussain.
2. Pakistan International: Investment, Development and CPEC
Speakers: Ishrat Hussain, Sahibzada Jahangir, Junaid Iqbal, Ahmed Chinoy, and Zeeshan Shah
3. Combatting Terrorism: Legal Challenges & the Moral Dimension (Key Note Address)
Speakers: Hon'ble Justice Qazi Faez Isa (Supreme Court of Pakistan) and Dr Amber Darr (Moderator)
