Deep into Michaelmas it’s dark about 20 hours a day, but there is light at the end of the tunnel.
On the 6th of December, AU Carol will again be striving to pull student satisfaction out of last place. For many, this may be the year of the hat trick and for others this may be their first experience of the day-long festivities that puts Christmas Day itself to shame.
After a Spoons fry-up or the attempt at one in your Captains’ tiny kitchen, we head to the Venue for some 10am festivities and life-reflection once you realise it is midday, and you walk past your teacher in full fancy-dress. Then begins the procession to Le club et Bar du Zoo for 2pm, no explanation necessary. Once dusk falls and it feels slightly more acceptable to be in a club at 5pm, teams go in search of good food in Leicester Square; success unlikely. Remove ALL costumes and head for Clubnight, entry helpfully included with your wristband, for the big finale from 10pm onward. Only the strong & sober will survive and have the pride of completing the trifecta.
Everyone welcome and fun guaranteed no matter whether you’re cutting some mad shapes 100% sober or questionably committed to the theme, Carol 2019 is here.
Tickets for this event are now sold out.
There is a limit of one ticket per person. If you cannot attend the event after purchasing your ticket, your wristband can be passed on to another member of the AU. This should be for no more than the face value of the ticket.
On the day of Carol - Costumes on Campus
All costume themes must be approved by LSESU in advance of the event and outfits must not be worn to your lecture/seminars on the day.
You will be asked to remove any masks or hats on entry into the venue, and you may not bring in weapon props. The event staff reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone with a costume that is deemed to be inappropriate.
Please consider the weather conditions and ensure that you have clothing that will keep you warm outside of the event venue (the cloakroom will be open, so you can bring a coat).
Fancy dress costumes cannot be worn to the Club House event in the evening. Any individuals arriving in fancy dress for the evening event will not be admitted entry.
Wristband Collection
After purchasing your ticket, you must collect a wristband from the LSESU Reception on the 3rd floor of the Saw Swee Hock building. This wristband will provide you with access to the event, rather than the ticket itself. Please note, wristbands will not be available for collection on the day of the event, or on the door.
Wristband collection will take place during office hours from Monday 2nd of December to Thursday 5th December. If your wristband is not collected by 4pm on Thursday 5th, you will no longer be able to collect your wristband and will not be able to attend the event.
To collect your carol wristband you must bring your LSE ID with you. Once you collect your wristband, the Union accepts no responsibility for loss and if lost, you will not be able to gain entry to the venue.
