The LSESU Drama Society welcomes you to our Directors Floor and AGM Event.
If you have a suggestion for a play you would like to see us perform this year, an original piece of writing that you would like to promote or would just quite like to come along and hear the potential ideas then this event is the perfect opportunity for you to get involved and influence what the drama society gets up to this year.
Creative Minds:
If you have an idea that you would like to see us perform this year, please come along with some information and let us know. We will ask you to give a little presentation (only needs to be a couple of minutes) discussing the idea you have, where you would like to perform and other information. It is important to consider and include factors such as:
- Plot
- Cast Size
- Where it will be performed
- When it could be performed
- Budget
- Rights costs
- Performance Style
- Who could direct the performance
Dont worry if you cant answer all of the above questions, just give us as much information as you can. It is absolutely fine to suggest a performance that you would like to direct, like to act in, or would like nothing to do with; we just want to get the creative juices flowing and have as much choice as possible.
What are we looking for?
We welcome any suggestions at all whether these are modern or traditional plays, comedies, sattires, musicals, original writing, development performances anything is welcome. Currently we are looking for 2 further plays and one musical, however, this is flexible depending on the ideas suggested. Previous performances have included classics such as 'A view from a bridge' and 'Cabaret', modern writing such as 'Mr Burns' and original writing.
How do we choose?
During the directors floor the executive committee will take notes. We will then discuss the plays and exclude any suggestions that we do not think are viable or due to cost or rights issues that we are unable to put on. After this we will send the shortlist of performances suggested out to the society to vote on what performances they would like to see the drama society put on this academic year.
Whats the AGM?
The AGM is our annual general lent term meeting where we elect all members of the sub committee and approve our constitution for the coming academic year. Whether you are a first year, a post grad or anywhere inbetween anyone can stand for a position as long as you are willing to get involved!

If you cant attend?
Don't worry if you cannot attend the event - we would still love to hear your ideas and . You can either nominate someone to attend the event for you and pitch your idea or your position in person, or if this doesnt work send us an email with the idea or the position you would like to stand for and we can pitch it for you.
