The Importance of Being Earnest needs no introduction, but we’ll give it one anyway: Oscar Wilde’s most acclaimed, longstanding work is a quick-witted, satirical take-down of Victorian High Society. It's a subtle but no-holds-barred attack on the ridiculousness of social etiquette, traditions and customs, told through the story of two Bachelors, John ‘Jack’ Worthing and Algernon ‘Algy’ Moncrieff, who create alter-egos named Ernest and attempt to win the hearts of two women who, conveniently, claim to only love men called Ernest. The pair struggle to keep up with their own stories and become entangled in a tale of deception, disguise and misadventure. It's hilarious, but don't take our word for it - come and see it yourself!
