LSESU International Students' Activities Fund

 

What is the International Students' Activities Fund (ISAF)?

ISAF aims to help individual and groups of international students run their own activities aimed at engaging the LSE international community but can be anything! For example a cultural celebration or a tour of London.

 

Funding requests will be subject to criteria and will be decided by Students’ Union representatives – successful funding will be either fully or part-funded with between £50 and £250 available for each project.

 

What support can I get?

  • Funding of up to £250
  • 121 support from the Students’ Union with planning and running your project or event
  • Project management and event management training through LSESU Beyond the Classroom sessions

 

Examples:

  • A trip to Madame Tussauds during lent term to de-stress.
  • A trip to a Chinese restaurant during Chinese new year’s to celebrate the occasion.
  • A guided tour of Buckingham Palace to experience once of London’s greatest landmarks
  • An exhibition of traditional clothing or dance to celebrate your culture

 

How to apply

  • Click the 'Apply Here' button at the bottom of the page to fill out an ISAF Application
  • If your application is considered, you will be contacted by us to submit a budget plan via email which reflects how the money will be spent. Please make sure you submit your budget to su.engagement@lse.ac.uk upon requestwith the subject line 'ISAF - YOUR NAME - STUDENT ID'. 
  • You may be asked to attend a meeting with a Students’ Union representative, to further discuss your application before a decision is made. 
  • Successful ISAF applicants will be required to complete a short survey to help us evaluate the impact of the fund. 

 

Criteria 

  • You must be a current international student at LSE (undergraduate or postgraduate from outside the UK).
  • You must NOT be acting on behalf of a student society or sports club. You can still be a member of a society and apply for this fund but you cannot apply on behalf of a society.
  • Your project must benefit and engage the international LSE community.
  • The fund can only be used for non-academic related activities. 
  • The ISAF has limited financial resources. In the event that applications submitted exceed the available resource, a selection process will take place and some applications may be unsuccessful.  
  • Food and drink can only be reimbursed when it has been used to cater for the event.
  • You must spend/claim reimbursement of the money within the same term your application was approved. 
  • Successful ISAF applicants will be required to complete a short survey to help us evaluate the impact of the fund.
