Socially Distanced Winter Events in London

The Holidays are the perfect time to plan some festive activites with your friends, families, households and bubbles to mark the end of the term. Lots of venues such as bars, restaurants, theatres and stadiums are re-opening to the public again, but we know that a number of you might not be so keen on venturing into public spaces. That’s why we’ve rustled up a number of virtual and socially distanced activities that you can do to celebrate the Holiday Season:

Virtual Theatre Shows

Whether you’re up for a seat in the auditorium or would much prefer to watch it from your sofa – there’s quite a few options for you when it comes to Theatre Shows! Pantomimes are an iconic festivity here in the UK, something you should definitely give a go if you’re up for some light hearted fun. If you fancy a bit of escapism from everyday life, give theatre shows a try to experience a different world and submerge yourself into something new. Here are some of your options:

Drive-In Cinemas

Now the obvious catch with this one people is that you do need a car to participate. Even if you don’t have one, see if someone in your household or bubble does and take a ride down to the Pop Up Drive In Cinemas across the country! We’ve found some here in London for you:

Ice Rinks

Ice Rinks are a large space, good for keeping your distance. With the festive season looming, it will inevitably mean these venues will become more popular with city-goers. If you’d like to give this winter activity a go, we would highly advise heading out during off-peak times to get the best ability to do a socially distanced round of skating! If you want a bit more clarity before you set your sights on this, you can always get in contact with the Ice Rink directly to confirm what their least busy times are.

Winter walks

That crisp winter air hitting your face is one of the most refreshing feelings you can experience at this time of year. Don’t underestimate the joy you can experience from taking a leisurely walk through some of Londons green spaces through the holidays – not to mention the fact that getting out for a walk will do wonders for your mental health and wellbeing! We’ve got out top picks for you, take a wander!:

  • Hampstead Heath
  • Kensington Gardnes
  • Waterlow Park
  • Kew Gardens
  • Greenwich Park
  • Victoria Park
  • Richmond Park
  • Alexandra Palace Park

Christmas Light Trails

Fancy that Winter Walk we just mentioned, but with a few festive lights? London is home to some of the most amazing Christmas Light Trails – the perfect setting for enjoying the warm atmosphere of the festive season, all whilst being able to practice safe distancing from others. Similarly with the Ice Rinks, if you’re worried about them being potentially popular on the day you’d like to go, give the parks/organisations a call to get some clarity on their less busier times. We highly recommend this one!:

Immersive Experiences

We’re nearing the end of 2020, which we know has been a challenge for all of us…so why not round off the year by jumping into some immersive experiences? It’s a great way to spruce up those cosy winter nights in when you fancy a change from the typical bingewatching. We’ve scouted some interesting ones for you

Christmas Markets

Nothing says Holiday season like a Christmas Market! Lights, food, atmosphere – it really is a must-do for everyone this holiday season. This may not be something you’d like to do in-person, but how about taking a digital wander through the many Virtual Christmas Markets that have launched this year? It’s the perfect way to safely start the holidays!
