Sports and Societies

Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon, a small island nation south of India, with a population of 21 million, has a diverse culture and rich cultural heritage rooted with various regions which this society aims to promote and unify.  The aims of our society are simple:

  1. To create a small close-knit family comprised of society members - a group of friends who are always there to provide advice, support and company to one another.
  2. To promote the unique Sri Lankan culture within the LSE community.
  3. To organize and support events on issues of interest and concern to Sri Lanka today such as water scarcity and human rights issues.
  4. To form strong relationships with universities nationally, and their students through regular socials, sporting and career events.

We plan to hold frequent social events in order for everyone to really get to know one another and bond. This includes regular activities such as dinners, film nights, sports days (football and cricket), bar crawls, cricket viewing parties as well as Sri Lankan food sampling sessions.

Furthermore, members of the LSESU Sri Lanka society will also have the opportunity to network and meet with other Sri Lanka societies members from various universities across the United Kingdom at external event such as dinners, nights out, parties and other social events.

With us, you will be guaranteed to have a fun and unforgettable time at LSE.
