The Competition: Poetry For Justice

PLEASE NOTE: Entries are now closed. The competititon's results will be announced shortly. All entrants have been contacted. 

 

Submit your entries for the LSESU Poetry Society's summer competition - open to LSE and non-LSE entries.

 

The competition's theme is on "Poetry For Justice", designed to raise awareness of the Ukraine war and the impact of conflict on refugees. The results will be judged by a prestigious panel of established poets.

 

Dates

Submission open at 00:01 on 20 May 2022 and close at 23:59 on 12 June 2022. The results will be announced on 20 June 2022, World Refugee Day. 

 

Prizes

  • 3rd place prize: £10 National Book Token voucher
  • 2nd place prize: Online publication in The Beaver, LSE Students' Union newspaper
  • 1st place prize: Hard copy of the Foyle Young Poets Anthology and hard copies of "Poems on the Underground" posters from The Poetry Society (not related to this society). 

All three placed winners will also win the right to perform in our next open mic night. 

 

Competition Rules

  • One entry allowed per person. 
  • Entries do not have to be on the Ukraine war or on refugees but should relate broadly to the competition's title (Poetry For Justice). 
  • You do not have to be an LSE student, staff or faculty member to enter or win.
  • Word limit of 250 per poem.
  • The poem must be entirely in English.
