Who we are
Part business, part charity, part membership body – students’ unions are seriously fun places to work. They are organisations in their own right. Professionally run, but different. Professional teams support elected student leaders to make change, improve lives and fulfil potential; we help make it happen.

Founded in 1897, LSE Students' Union is one of the oldest Students' Unions in the UK and is the representative and campaigning body for students at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).  Like other Students' Unions, it also funds and facilitates student activities of campus, including societies, sports clubs through the Athletics Union (AU), the Media Group and Raising and Giving (RAG) charitable fundraising initiatives.

About the job
Consent.Ed is a student led initiative that aims to prevent sexual violence and improve the safety of our campus by providing a space to learn about consent and discuss how we can work together to support one another and create an inclusive campus.

Consent.Ed launched in 2021, with students across the school coming to take part in the Consent.Ed sesssions. 90% of attendees said they would recommend attending to a friend and 99% of attendees said they would feel more comfortable calling out sexual misconduct if they witnessed it, after attending our training. These incredible statistics are all thanks to our student facilitators – the human-face of Consent.Ed – who were committed to improving their community and who led conversations with other students to create a positive and respectful consent culture at LSE.

As a Consent.Ed facilitator you will be working with one other facilitator to lead 90 minute Consent.Ed sessions to approximately 30 students. Your role is not to train students but to facilitate a conversation: to share some information, explore issues around consent, provide an opportunity to discuss how we can look out for one another and create an inclusive campus, and signpost students to the support available at LSE.

We will provide you with comprehensive training on issues around consent and how to facilitate sessions, with many opportunities to practice these workshop-leading skills. We recognise that this is sensitive content and that this role could be emotionally challenging; we are here to support you through this, and will provide check-in sessions and paid-time to decompress.

Who are we looking for?
There is no such thing as a typical Consent.Ed facilitator; we are looking to recruit a group with a variety of personalities and strengths. We are looking for students with a passion to make a difference within the LSE community through delivering Consent.Ed. Facilitators will also have and develop excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills. There is no need to have any previous knowledge about consent, just a willingness to learn.

We particularly welcome applications from BAME students, male students, LGBTQIA+ students, disabled students and postgraduate students.

Please note you must be an LSE student in the 2022/23 academic year to apply for this role.
