LSESU Actuarial Society cordially invites you to our annual actuarial conference, which will be held on the 21st of February 2015. This year's conference will focus on topics regarding the future of the insurance field, while also taking into consideration various actuarial-related prospects, which will be useful in giving participants a deeper insight into the actuarial world.

The speakers who will be speaking in the conference are as below: -

Kanwardeep Ahluwalia
Working in Swiss Re as the Head of Financial Risk Management (FRM) and also the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of the EMEA operations, Kanwardeep has previously worked for 12 years at a New York investment bank, Bear Stearns, and rose to the position of CRO for Europe and Asia and the Global Head of Market Risk. Given his background in both an investment bank and a leading reinsurance company, he will be speaking on the topic of “Comparisons between Financial Markets and Insurance Risk Management”.

Bhavisha Goolab
Bhavisha is an actuarial consultant at Towers Watson and has worked as a consultant at BITanium, a data analytics and business intelligence firm, and a consultant at Nampak. She has had experience in business intelligence and data warehousing. Bhavisha graduated from Wits University with a BSc in Computer Sciences & Mathematics in 2005. For the conference, she will be speaking on “The Impacts of Technology on the Insurance Industry”, while also focusing on Usage-Based Inference and Telematics.

Laura Worth
Laura has been a consultant at Towers Watson for over 3 years since moving from Barnett Waddingham in 2011. She graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2009 and is now a qualified Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. She will be speaking on the topic of “Solvency II” and the impact it has had on the industry.

Ruta Mikiskaite
Having graduated from Vilnius University, Ruta currently works as a casualty treaty underwriter at Swiss Re. Her previous work experience includes working at ERGO - which is a part of Munich Re, and one of the leading insurance companies in the Baltic States. For the conference, she will be speaking about "3D Printing", while also highlighting the application of the technology and the relevant risk assessments.

To round up the conference, there will also be a discussion panel involving all the speakers. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and clear any doubts that they might have throughout the entire conference.
