The Italian Society proudly invites you to "Is it Time to Rethink European Integration?" a public lecture by Mario Monti. 

The lecture will take place next week on Wednesday 19 February at 6.30PM and will be chaired by the Head of the LSE European Institute, Professor Maurice Fraser. 

Mario Monti is Senator for life of the Italian Republic and served as Prime Minister of Italy from 2011 to 2013. In addition, he is President of Bocconi University, Honorary President of Bruegel, a European think-tank for economic policy, and member of the Reflection Group on the Future of Europe in 2020-2030, established by the European Council and presided by Felipe González. He was Member of the European Commission for a decade, first as Commissioner for Internal Market, Financial Services and Financial Integration Customs, and Taxation (1995-1999), and then for Competition (1999-2004). He was nominated Member of the Commission pour la libération de la croissance française established by the President of the French Republic Nicolas Sarkozy and presided by Jacques Attali. He is International Advisor of Goldman Sachs and Member of the International Advisory Board of the Coca-Cola Company. Mario Monti graduated in Economics and Business from Bocconi University and did post-graduate studies at Yale University. Prior to joining the European Commission, he was Professor of Economics at Bocconi University and then Rector from 1989 to 1994.

Maurice Fraser is Head of the European Institute and Professor of Practice in European Politics, LSE. Director of LSE - Sciences Po European Double Master's Degree. Associate Fellow for Europe, Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House). Trustee, council member and former vice-chair, Franco-British Council. Chair, the British-German Dialogue. Trustee and council member, The Federal Trust for Education and Research. Trustee and executive board member, Forum for European Philosophy. Member of International Advisory Council, APCO Worldwide. Former consultant to Merrill Lynch, Unilever, BBC World Service, the European Commission. Contributing Editor, Valeurs Actuelles, 1996-98. Special Adviser to UK Foreign Secretaries from 1989 to 1995.  Education: Lycee Francais de Londres and the London School of Economics. Maurice Fraser was made Chevalier de la Legion d' honneur in 2008.

Registration will close on Sunday 16 February at 23.30. Tickets will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and the venue will be confirmed to successful ticket holders only. 

Doors will open at 6PM and a proof of ID will be required.
