Sits on the most important committees of the School, working across the Executive to make sure every officer is able to campaign on the issues they are passionate about – and that the School is listening to students.

The leading student voice on academic issues. Chair of the Education Assembly, and responsible for leading the student voice on academic affairs, such as teaching quality, feedback, the lack of resits, broader teaching and learning developments and putting LSE students at the heart of national education issues.

Jack Tindale

Community and Welfare Officer | su.communitywelfare@lse.ac.uk

Jack is responsible for working with fellow students to improve the quality of life amongst the student body.  He takes a lead role in coordinating accommodation issues, creating a more ethically responsible School and prompting healthy living. He also assists with improving the provision of student support and widening participation.

Overall responsibility for developing societies, Athletics’ Union, Media Group, RAG and volunteering, and working with students to achieve a fun LSE! As the chair of the Activities Assembly, also has responsibility for developing a student network of volunteers and campaigning activists.

With over half of LSE students studying graduate courses, the Postgraduate Officer is elected during each Michaelmas Term to liaise with staff across the School with responsibility for graduate students - and they make sure the Union is representative of all of our members.

 Part Time Officers

Garrick Hileman

Research Students Officer | su.research@lse.ac.uk

The Research Students’ Officer represents Research students to the Students’ Union and School. As a new position, the successful candidate will establish the position between the UCU, the School and the Union. They organise social events and campaign for the improvement of academic provision for PGR students. The position is paid and the holder is given office space and expected to work approximately 6 hours a week.

The AU President takes the lead role in representing the interests and members of the Athletics Union to the Students' Union and the School. Along with the Activities and Development Officer, the AU President develops and strengthens sports at the LSE.

Mohamed Harrath

Anti-Racism Officer | su.anti-racism@lse.ac.uk

Runs campaigns and events aimed at eliminating and countering all forms of discrimination based on race, religion or nationality. Supports students who have been victimised by racism. 

Sophie Newman

Disabled Students Officer | su.disability@lse.ac.uk

Represents the interests of students with disabilities, wellbeing issues, or illness to the Union and the School. Works with the LSE Disability & Wellbeing Office and the staff-student disabilities network. Plans awareness campaigns and events.

Diana Yu

International Students Officer | su.international@lse.ac.uk

Represents the views of International Students to the Student’ Union Executive and the School. Coordinates cultural diversity on campus. Works with students and societies to promote events and campaigns with an international flavour.

Represents female students within the Union to ensure equality. Runs campaigns on issues that are important to female students

Develops sustainability initiatives at the LSE, and runs campaigns on issues of ecology, social justice, peace and solidarity

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender  (LGBT) Students Officer | su.lgbt@lse.ac.uk

Coordinates the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) campaign to tackle homophobia and defend, extend and deepen the rights of LGBT students. Works closely with the LGBT society

Rian Watt

General Course President | su.gcourse@lse.ac.uk

Represents the 300+ plus General Course students at the LSE, and plans events and activities to keep General Course students interested and entertained.

Alex Hall

Mature/Part-Time Students’ Representative | su.mature@lse.ac.uk

Ensures the welfare and representation of Mature and Part Time Students. Will work closely with the sabbatical officers to ensure that the School and Union’s activities represent and engage mature and part-time students.
