  • This Thursday (5 December), the LSESU Development Society will be hosting a presentation by Dr Vassilis Monastiriotis from the LSE European Institute, who will discuss the topic "Growth models and development trajectories: the crisis in Southeast Europe and beyond".

Dr Monastiriotis is an Associate Professor of Political Economy at the LSE, Research Affiliate at the Hellenic Observatory, as well as Senior Researcher at the LSE Research Unit on South Eastern Europe.

In his presentation, Dr Monastiriotis will cover a range of important economic issues related to trade and investment openness within the context of the current economic crisis in Southeast Europe. Furthermore, our speaker will analyse some of the major challenges that these issues pose to economic growth and development in some of the least developed European countries in the Balkan region.

The presentation will be followed by a general discussion, which would present our guests with the opportunity to exchange views with the speaker and raise questions and points related to the topic. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to think in advance about any particular relevant issues that interest you and that you may wish to bring up in the discussion.

We look forward to seeing you there!:))

    All the best,
