On Feb 15, the LSESU MENA Society and the Bahrain Institute for Rights & Democracy are co-hosting an event to mark the five year anniversary of the revolution in Bahrain. Our speakers are:

1. Ala'a Shehabi, Bahraini writer and researcher, co-founder of 'Bahrain Watch', co-editor of 'Bahrain's Uprising', and Senior Research Associate at Lancaster Universiy, on Twitter @alaashehabi
2. Ali Abdulemam, Bahraini blogger and online activist, founder of 'Bahrain Online' and member of 'Bahrain Watch', on Twitter @abdulemam
3. Toby Matthiesen, Senior Research Fellow in the International Relations of the Middle East at St. Antony's College, University of Oxford, author of 'Sectarian Gulf: Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the Arab Spring That Wasn't, on Twitter @TobyMatthiesen

The talk will discuss a range of issues, including repression, reform, prospects for revolutionary change and the role of Bahrain's regional and international allies like Saudi Arabia, Britain and the United States. It will then be followed by a Q&A with the audience.

The event is free and open to the entire public, however attendees will need to get a ticket on this website.
