LSESU condemns all forms of racism

In light of recent events, the LSE Students’ Union would like to reiterate that we strongly condemn and stand against any form of racism and discrimination on campus. The offensive nature displayed in the recent cases of anti-Semitism and Islamophobia are not in accordance with our values of tolerance, diversity, and respect for all students regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality or religious affiliation. We believe that there must be a balance between freedom of speech and respecting the communities that make up the student body at the LSE.

Update on 20 January 2012.

This is a progress update on the investigations relating to the incident mentioned above.

Until the investigation is completed, the students concerned have been suspended from all AU activity, which includes being withdrawn from all competitive matches representing the Union and the University. These students will all shortly be attending educational training on the issue of anti-semitism, and they are all expected to attend a Holocaust Memorial Event at the end of January.

Acting swiftly, but fairly, is a priority for the investigation.

LSESU will once again be supporting the Holocaust Memorial Day event taking place on Friday 27 January in the Shaw Library. More information can be found here.
