About Us: The Climate Risk Modelling Society (CRMS) is the first student-led initiative in the UK dedicated to analysing how climate shocks transmit through economies and financial systems. We explore both physical and transition risks using scenario analysis, stress testing, and macro-financial modelling — methods employed by central banks, financial institutions, and consulting firms worldwide.
Our goal is to make quantitative climate-finance tools accessible to all LSE students and to connect academic learning with real-world practice. Through workshops, collaborative research, and expert events with external partners in academia and the private sector, CRMS aims to position LSE as a hub for climate-finance and policy innovation.
Membership: We offer a standard £1.50 membership open to all LSE students. Members will be able to: > Join research teams on physical or transition risk projects > Participate in coding workshops (Python, R, Stata) and scenario-modelling sessions > Attend exclusive speaker panels and the annual Climate Risk Forum > Run and vote in executive-committee elections > Receive updates on internships, research collaborations, and society events
Events and Activities: > Workshops & Training: introductions to NGFS, IPCC, and IEA scenario frameworks and modelling tools > Research Projects: student-led work on transmission channels of climate risk in macro-financial systems > Speaker Panels & Policy Talks: with experts from the central banks, financial institutions, consulting firms and the private sector. > SME Climate Readiness Pilot: collaboration with LSE Generate to apply risk frameworks to real businesses > Climate Risk Symposium: an annual flagship event bringing together students, academics, and industry practitioners > Social Mixers & Networking Sessions throughout the year
