About Us

LSESU Film Society is the hub for film-lovers on campus! Whether you’re passionate about making films, watching them on the big screen, or just enjoying a good movie night with friends, we’ve got something for you.

Each year, we host regular themed screenings, social events, and cinema outings. For those keen to get behind the camera, we'll be offering opportunities to work on our brand-new mini-series production this year, covering writing, directing, acting, and more. Additionally, we will be hosting beginner-friendly workshops in storyboarding, filming, and editing.

Membership

Our membership fee is £5 for the entire year, and purchasing a membership to our society will give you full access to ALL our events, socials, and subsidised excursions this year. Your membership fee goes to funding our movie licences, special events, and providing the refreshments and subsidies you will enjoy.

As a member of this society, you join a community of enthusiastic, film-loving individuals. We are a welcoming society -- whether you love action flicks, slapstick comedy, or the most abstract arthouse cinema, you will find friends with similar tastes.

Events and Activities

  • Themed Screenings: Our Members’ Pick screenings reflect the most popular member suggestions. From cult classics to hidden gems, this is your chance to shape the programme!
  • Cinema Trips: With the infamous Prince Charles Cinema just a short walk from campus, we run discounted trips every term on special occasions (e.g. Halloween, Valentine's Day).
  • BFI London Film Festival Trips: Get discounted tickets and gain access to advance screenings of some of the most anticipated films of the year.
  • Production Workshops: Acquire practical skills from industry professionals through hands-on sessions in storyboarding, filming, and editing.
  • Special Events: We also collaborate with other universities to host speaker events, as well as socials such as quiz nights at the Three Tuns.
