This is no ordinary event
This additional Student Members' Meeting is an introduction to changemaking through your SU.
Part training, part social, we don't just want to offer you opportunity to shape the direction of your Union, but equip all students with the tools to make real change in the wider world. Empowerment is the word of the day, but if that doesn't excite you enough, this is also a great chance to shape policy, and expand your network over free refreshments. There will also be prizes for attendees, so watch this space...
Starting of with a policy development workshop, we'll be giving attendees a challenging task to build a policy proposal with real world implications, and discussing how to build policy that can make a difference right here at LSE!
We'll then be voting to change our byelaws for sports and societies, to update the kind of support they can offer their members. The event will be taking place in Room 1.02 of the Parish Hall Building, but attendees can also dial in from 3pm for the byelaw portion.
We'll be posting all about the event in the next couple of weeks, but for now make sure to keep your diaries free on 29 January. Reserve a ticket to make sure you're in the loop on updates here, but sign up quick before spaces go!
Why are ASMM's important?
No matter your year of study, department, or your stance on the SU, the ASMM is beneficial for all students to attend:
Maybe you have no idea or awareness of the Students' Union
This is the best way to find out who we are and what we do first hand from the leaders of the organisation.
Maybe you're involved or part of the Students' Union in some way
Whether that be part of our clubs and societies or as a PTO or campaigner - the ASMM is the time to acknowledge what we have achieved and to help determine the course of the SU's growth.
The best reason to attend?
You get first hand experience of how an organisation is run, what challenges there are, and what works. Who knows, one day you could be running your own additional Student Members' Meeting!
You can get your free ticket here – be quick, there are a limited number available.
