Esther Munro appointed new Chief Executive Officer of the London School of Economics Students' Union

"We're extremely pleased to welcome Esther to the LSESU," said Tito Molokwu, General Secretary the Students' Union.

"Esther's collaborative, clear, and values-driven leadership style and impressive track record in some of the UK and New Zealand's best-known charitable organisations aligns perfectly with our vision to be a world-class students’ union. She is exactly who we need to drive forward our strategy and to help empower every student to shape tomorrow."

Esther said: "I am delighted to be joining the incredible team at LSE Students' Union. I am keen to bring my fresh perspective and expertise to the LSESU to help embed positive change, support our high-performing team, and work in partnership with LSE to deliver our ambitious LSESU 2030: Shaping Tomorrow strategy."

Esther Munro has a decade of leadership experience in the charity, government, union, and advocacy sectors - including  working as a Press Secretary for Ministers in the New Zealand Government and transforming internal communications at the RSPCA.  She has also led non-profits through governance reform and structural change while ensuring growth and financial stability as Executive Director at the Council of Medical Colleges, and Acting CEO of the New Zealand Medical Association.

"I want to take this opportunity to thank Grace Brockus who has stepped into the Acting CEO role for the last eleven months. The Board and I have valued Grace's energy, diligence and ego-free leadership, and she has done an exceptional job. We are thrilled to be holding on to her brilliance as our Head of Student Communities," Tito said. "I would also like to thank Bill Yuksel from Peridot Partners for managing our recruitment process - he's been outstanding throughout."

Esther assumed the role in early September 2025.  Her appointment follows a comprehensive search - during which she was selected for her unique combination of strategic insight, diplomatic stakeholder management, and a proven ability to lead impactful change in complex, political environments.
