The London School of Economics Students' Union has completed a comprehensive investigation following allegations of serious misconduct involving the Men's Rugby Club.
The investigation established clear evidence that conduct linked to the club failed to meet the standards required of Students' Union members. Such behaviour contradicted our Code of Conduct, violated explicit instructions that had been communicated to the club's leadership, and presented serious risks to student wellbeing and safety.
In accordance with our disciplinary procedures, the Men's Rugby Club has been suspended until the end of this academic year. This suspension covers all activities, sporting and social. The AU President has also been suspended as a result of the investigation.
Our decisions reflect our fundamental responsibility to protect students and our absolute intolerance of behaviours that pose a risk to any student’s wellbeing and safety. We encourage student participation in sporting and social pursuits but will not hesitate to take decisive action when the evidence demonstrates that our standards have been compromised, ensuring all activity is conducted safely and responsibly.
Students with concerns about any sports club or its members can contact the Students' Union via LSESU Complaints or submit a report through the University's Report + Support platform.
The Students' Union Advice team is available to assist any student who needs guidance on raising concerns or would like support with the complaints process. The Advice team can discuss situations confidentially, outline available options, and help students report concerns in whatever manner feels most appropriate.
