LSESU supports students competing in elite sport alongside their studies. Through consultations, events, and tailored initiatives, we aim to understand and address the unique challenges faced by athletes balancing academic and sporting commitments. From networking opportunities like the Elite Sport Meet & Greet to future support projects, our goal is to help elite athletes thrive at LSE both on and off the field.

Overview

At LSE, we recognise that many of our students are also elite athletes, balancing demanding training and competition schedules alongside their academic studies. We are committed to better understanding and supporting the unique challenges faced by these students.

During the opening weeks of the 2025–26 Autumn Term, we will be running consultation sessions to identify the specific needs of our elite athlete community. These conversations will help shape the support, resources, and opportunities we can provide to ensure athletes can thrive both academically and in their sporting careers.

If you are an elite athlete — competing at a semi-professional level or higher, or having represented your nation at U17 level or above — we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with Dan Smith (Physical Activity and Wellbeing Coordinator) at d.smith15@lse.ac.uk to share your experiences and ideas.
