LSESU’s postgraduate sport programme offers flexible, accessible opportunities for taught and research students to stay active, meet peers, and prioritise wellbeing. In partnership with the Postgraduate Society, events are designed around busy schedules, with no membership required. The programme aims to break down barriers, provide inclusive activities, and help postgraduate students connect through sport and physical activity in ways that suit their lifestyle.

Overview

At LSESU, we recognise that postgraduate students — both taught and research — often face unique challenges when it comes to participating in sport and physical activity on campus. Long teaching hours, research commitments, external responsibilities, and heavy workloads can make it difficult to join regular sports clubs or dedicate time to personal physical and mental wellbeing. We are committed to creating flexible, accessible opportunities that allow postgraduate students to engage in sport, meet like-minded peers, and feel part of a supportive community.

To help address these challenges, we are collaborating with the newly formed Postgraduate Society to deliver an initial series of events focused on physical activity. These events are free and open to all postgraduate students, with no membership required to attend, though joining the society is encouraged if you’d like to be more involved. Activities are designed to be flexible and considerate of postgraduate schedules, allowing students to participate without pressure or long-term commitment.

We are continuously looking for ways to improve and expand these offerings. If you have ideas for future events or feedback on existing initiatives, we encourage you to get in touch. Your input will help shape meaningful opportunities for postgraduate students to stay active, connect with peers, and prioritise their wellbeing while balancing the demands of postgraduate study.
