Job Summary:

LSESU is recruiting a small team of Language Centre Callbank Assistants to support the transition of LSE Language Centre offer-holders into enrolled LSE students.

You’ll deliver warm, informative, and engaging one-to-one phone conversations, using an agreed call structure. As a student ambassador, you’ll help offer-holders feel welcomed, confident, and clear on what to expect, from enrolment and induction to student support and life at LSE. You’ll also record call outcomes accurately and feedback common themes and questions to help improve future communications and support.

Who are we looking for?

This role is ideal for friendly, confident communicators who enjoy speaking to new people and supporting fellow students, especially students who can speak authentically about the Language Centre experience and student life at LSE.

In summary, we’re looking for applicants who are approachable, enthusiastic, and reassuring; can build rapport quickly; are reliable and able to work to agreed schedules and call targets; also care about delivering an excellent experience to a culturally diverse audience.

Essential eligibility: You must be a current LSE student studying within the Language Centre.

Why apply?

Because you’re excited to share your knowledge and you want to help new students feel like they belong to LSE before they even arrive. This is student-facing work with real impact, in a progressive, student-led environment.

How we recruit

We want to ensure all systems, policies and processes are free from bias or discrimination and are fair and accessible, therefore we ask that all candidates complete our Application Process in two stages:

Part 1: Supporting Statement

This is all about you telling us about your suitability for the role and will be used to determine if you are shortlisted for interview. Please keep this one page maximum and do not include any personal information, e.g. name or date of birth. Please use the job description and person specification to help write this.

Part 2: Equal Opportunities Monitoring and Contact Form

This is personal information, so we can contact you if you are shortlisted for the interview. It also helps us gather and analyse demographic information about our applicants. This part will only be seen by HR and will not have any impact on shortlisting.

Application forms are formatted to ensure the equality monitoring data is removed before applications are seen by the shortlisting panel. This process allows us to ensure that the shortlisting is done in a fair and consistent manner, and all applicants are given the same opportunity to demonstrate their abilities.
