Earthrise is LSE's first student-led environmental journal. It was launched on 24-12-2018, 50 years after the Apollo 8 mission captured a world-changing photograph of the Earth rising alone above the lunar horizon. The shift in perspective that Earthrise offered was a powerful spark that has shaped the contemporary environmental movement, and we hope to be part of the discussion that will drive us towards a better future.

Through articles, essays, poetry, reviews, nature writing, interviews, political activism, photography, storytelling, film, artwork, and more, we aim to challenge the complacency around our current environmental crises – one of the greatest challenges of the contemporary era – and inspire new ways of seeing our shared world. We accept submissions of any form for the journal's three annual issues - Autumn, Winter, and Spring Term – as long as they comply with our editorial guidelines. It doesn't matter how much experience you have; we want your contributions and thoughts! Earthrise is primarily a place of environmental exploration and expression. You don't need to be an expert to join!

Throughout the year, we will host events that are free to our members, including launch parties, workshops, pitches, walks, picnic socials, and film nights. We intend to develop a wider community with other societies and contributors, and organise events to bring these different groups together.
