LSE's home for Carnatic and Hindustani music, and classical dance forms including Bharatnatyam and Kathak. Whether you're a trained practitioner or curious, join us to celebrate these rich traditions!
Welcome to the Indian Classical Performing Arts Society!
We are LSESU's first ever society dedicated to the practice, performance and celebration of Indian classical music and dance. Whether you have trained for years or are simply curious about these art forms, you are welcome here.
Our society brings together people interested in Carnatic and Hindustani vocal and instrumental music, alongside classical dance forms including but not limited to Bharatnatyam and Kathak. We believe these traditions are best experienced in community, and that's exactly what we're here to build.
We plan to run a range of activities throughout the year, including: -Jam sessions: informal, collaborative sessions where members can practise, improvise and make music together -Workshops: skill-building sessions led by experienced members or invited professional artists -Showcases: termly/annual performances giving members a platform to share their art with the wider LSE community -Masterclasses: occasional sessions with professional artists from outside the university
Who We Welcome: Everyone. Trained practitioners, beginners, enthusiasts, and anyone simply wanting to experience these art forms up close. You do not need to be of South Asian heritage or have any prior background to get involved and feel at home with us.
Get Involved Follow us on our socials to stay up to date with events and sessions, or come along to one of our open events at the start of term- no experience or commitment required.
