Austrians at LSE have always played a unique role. Following the footsteps of Friedrich Hayek, Karl Popper & Co while enjoying LSE's academic rigour, Austrians and Austrophiles can find a home away from home in the Austrian Society.
Our activities range from popular gatherings in our Stammlokal, the Old Bank of England to Austrian wine tastings and more. Once or twice a term, we invite exciting Austrians to visit us for a Gemütlicher Abend - called Austrian Talks: Previous guests include Dr. Andreas Treichl (CEO Erste Group), Dr. Ewald Nowotny (Governor of the Austrian central bank), Hans Peter Haselsteiner (entrepreneur and politician) or Maria Vassilakou (Deputy Mayor of Vienna), among others. And don’t worry about speaking german - all our speaker events can be held in english as well!
Together with the Austrian Societies of Imperial College, King's College, UCL, Cambridge, Oxford and Queen Mary, we form a strong network of students from all over Austria, working closely with the Austrian Embassy London and the Austrian Club London (ACL).
We are very excited to welcome incoming Austrian students and all other students interested in getting to know the Austrian culture and traditions!
