About us
The LSESU Law Society is one of the largest and most active societies at LSE, for law and non-law students alike. Indeed, we had over 750 members last year spanning subjects from economics to history. We are the society to join if you’re interested in the legal profession! We organise a variety of career events and workshops with law firms, barristers’ chambers and much more. We also have different sub-committees who organise a wide range of activities for you to take part in: the LSE Law Review, the Bar & Chambers, LSE Law Pro Bono, and LSE Lawyers without Borders. With these you can take part in mooting (mock court), publish your own legal articles, and take part in valuable community work!
We are also renowned for our huge social events. We organise socials at some of the best bars & venues in London: ‘Welcome Drinks’ in October, ‘Christmas Drinks’ (held at Dirty Martini last year), and our Summer ‘Law Ball’ (held at One Whitehall Place last year). We have been recognised for our success in recent years: LSESU ‘Gold Star’ for over 3 consecutive years, LSESU ‘Best Society of the Year’ in 2018, and ‘Best Mooting Activities’ by LawCareers.Net. We were also nominated for ‘Best Society Overall’ and ‘Best Careers Event’ out of all the UK’s university law societies.

Membership
We provide two membership options: our Standard Membership (£5) and our ‘Give it a Go’ membership (free).
The standard membership gives you access to all Law Society career events, activities (such as mooting, pro bono etc), and sub-committee positions. This is great value for money, giving you year-long access. This small fee is essential to allow us to continue running the society, and for us to provide you with high-quality events.
Our ‘Give it a Go’ membership gives you a free trial period. You can then enjoy Law Society events before buying the Standard Membership when the trial period ends.
Events and Activities
We provide hundreds of different activities which you can take part in.
Our Bar & Chambers team organised over 25 moots last year (mock court), as well as career opportunities for aspiring Barristers. Our Law Review Team publishes student articles twice a year, and has an on-going legal blog. Our Pro Bono team fundraises money for many causes, participates in the ‘Law School Challenge’, and runs a blog. Our Lawyers without Borders division offers pro bono service to rule of law projects, provides networking with human rights professionals, and organises access to justice initiatives. All of these groups have sub-committees which you can join (even as first-years!).
Our Careers Officer works hard to provide a large amount of events and workshops with law firms, barristers’ chambers, and more. The best law firms in the US and UK sponsor us, allowing us to provide you with the best platform to find out about the legal profession. Examples from last year include: our annual ‘Know the City’ event (attended by over 200 students), and our ‘Meet the Vac Schemers’ student panel (attended by over 150 students). We also provide smaller, more personalised events such as ‘Linklaters Coffee Cart’, ‘White & Case Mock Interviews’, and ‘Baker McKenzie LSE Dinner’. Due to the coronavirus, we expect a large amount of our events to be online this term."
