ABOUT US:
Drama Soc is the LSESU's one-stop shop for all things theatre! Join us to perform in plays and musicals onstage, or to get involved in directing, tech, and production backstage - or just to get discounted tickets to all our shows (and access to our top-tier socials)!
Each year, we put on four full-scale productions (two plays in Autumn Term, one musical and one play in Winter Term). Parts big and small call for committed amateur thespians who are guaranteed to form a tight bond with their castmates and make lifelong friends showcasing their acting skills - and of course the backbone of our operations are the tech team working in the booth and backstage to put all the moving parts of a theatre production together! Whatever your role in a play or musical, you'll get a break from your degree whilst making new friends, contributing to a piece of art and getting more experience for your CV ;)
Don't have the time to commit to working on a production? No problem! We also organise discounted trips to some of the biggest theatres in London, so you can experience West End performances at a great price - and with great company xxx
Alongside our shows and trips, we hold regular socials, Open Mic Nights, and a '24-Hour Musical', where we audition for, cast, rehearse, and perform a whole musical... in only one day! If you're interested in writing your own material, our 'Original Writing Festival' has received great praise with plays taken to Fringe festivals in Edinburgh and even Washington D.C.!
Finally, we are delighted to have been nominated for two awards in 2026 including 'Creative Society of the Year' and 'Event of the Year' for our flagship musical RENT! which we see as a testament to our positive impact on the LSE students' experience.

MEMBERSHIP:
Student membership costs £7.50. Purchasing a membership will give you access to all aspects of the society: discounted tickets to our shows, the opportunity to audition or be involved in the production team of a show, discounted theatre trips to the West End, invitations to end-of-show parties and cast mixers, access to the Bernard Shaw awards night, and much, much more.
Starting this year, we will also be offering an £8 Associate Membership to LSE staff and alumni, providing access to discounted tickets to shows for those most dedicated to supporting us.
EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES:
In Drama, we offer a huge range of events and activities, depending on what you want to do! Whether that's participating in productions, attending discounted professional productions, or writing your own original material, there's something here for everyone!
We also do our best to hold socials and cast mixers regularly throughout the year (as often as every week)! In 2025/26 these included Open Mic Night, a trip to Amsterdam, two West End theatre trips, the Bernard Shaw Awards, and over 100 trips to Shakespeare's Head (Drama's Fav Wetherspoons).
