The LGBTQ+ community at LSE is vibrant and widespread- from engaging with the student society to the staff network, there are loads of ways to find your chosen family!
If you’re looking for LGTBQ+ community on campus, look no further than LSESU’s LGBTQ+ Society! The society runs loads of social events throughout the year, and gives students opportunities to network with employers and external speakers. They also do campaigning work to promote LGBTQ+ rights across campus in collaboration with the LGBTQ+ Officer.
LSESU has seven Part-Time Officers who represent students at the highest level of the Students’ Union. The LGBTQ+ Officer is one of these! They are tasked with representing queer students in the SU’s Executive Committee, and will also often be a representative within university spaces. This means that queer students will always have a voice advocating on their behalf in these spaces. You can find out how to get in touch with this year’s LGBTQ+ Officer here
LSE also has a Staff Network for LGBTQ+ staff- if you are a postgraduate student who has teaching responsibilities, you can get involved with Spectrum to hear about cool events and opportunities on campus.
LSE has a number of resources signposted for LGBTQ+ students, which you can find more about here.
The LSESU Advice Service offers an open and inclusive service on a range of issues such as housing, academic and funding support to all current students at the LSE. For more information visit Advice Service.
Make connections with other LGBTQ+ students at LSE, build community and lasting friendships! We're pairing up current students with incoming first-years to build a queer community on campus. This is a chance to be a queer elder, or to find new LGBTQ+ community at LSE.

LSESU has a Gender Expression Fund!
The fund was created to alleviate financial strains for trans, non-binary, intersex, and any gender non-conforming students to break down some of the barriers they face in their daily lives. While the fund cannot assist with medical or legal costs, we hope this financial assistance can contribute to students’ wellbeing and make resources for gender expression more accessible.
This fund is administered by the LSESU Advice Service which offers an open and inclusive service on a range of issues such as housing, academic and funding support to all current students at the LSE. For more information visit Advice Service.
We are aware of the current climate surrounding trans rights in the UK, and are committed to doing everything we can to make LSE a safe and supportive space for trans and non-binary students. You can read an update on our work from June here, and get involved with our campaigning and lobbying work to protect trans inclusion by filling in this form or following @lsesu_campaigns on Instagram.
