Across the world today, from Gaza to Ukraine, we see what Capitalism offers us: poverty, misery and barbarism. Nationwide, the marketisation of higher education has allowed for parasites at the top of these institutions to profiteer from this misery to the tune of millions! Meanwhile, staff are facing job cuts and are denied decent pay or conditions, and students are being politically repressed by their own universities.
Therefore, we as Communists seek to fight back against Capitalism, to Educate, Agitate and Organise ourselves!
Educate:
We hold regular talks discussing Marxist theory, current affairs and historical events. This is to develop our understanding of the ideas of Marxism, the world around us and the lessons we can absorb from them. It is through having the correct ideas; strikes, movements, and revolutions succeed or fail, and therefore we attach the utmost importance to the study of Marxism. We also encourage you to join our reading groups, so you can, develop a greater understanding of the ideas and, subsequently, a greater ability to revolutionise the world around you.
Agitate:
While action without theory serves unfortunately as an attempt to fight with blindfolds on, simply studying theory is not enough to change the world. We therefore are and have been involved in a wide range of activities, such as the Palestine Movement, the 2022 strike wave, etc.
We also look to find other students who wish to fight for communism, particularly as there has been a large radicalisation of the youth, who see no future in a world of increased wars, austerity and Climate Change.
Organise Yourself!
We are affiliated with the Marxist Student Federation, which holds over 50 societies nationally, including many in London. We often link up with our sister societies in London at KCL, City University, UCL, SOAS, Imperial and more, to attend demonstrations, protests and picket lines. We are also supporters of the Revolutionary Communist Party, and Revolutionary Communist International, as a serious fight against Capitalism cannot be confined to one nation, let alone one university.
Heroic revolutions and movements have sprung up in the last decade and a half, from the Arab Spring, the worldwide Palestine movement, to the revolutionary movement today in Serbia. However, without a genuine revolutionary leadership, with the lessons of two centuries of working class struggle and theory, these movements have often been exhausted not by the masses but by the incorrect or lack of direction shown to them.
Join us today at the Communist Society if you seek to help build that!
